Understanding Military Procedures and the UCMJ

Our senior partner, Dennis E. Boyle, Esquire, has over two decades of experience as a Navy JAG Officer, and rose to the rank of Commander before retiring. During that time, he represented nearly 200 sailors and Marines charged with everything from minor charges to espionage and murder. During the first Persian Gulf War, Mr. Boyle served as the lawyer for an aircraft carrier dealing with foreign criminal jurisdiction matters, rules of engagement and a variety of conflict related offenses. He has also served as defense counsel, senior defense counsel, prosecutor and senior prosecutor on active duty. After leaving active duty, Mr. Boyle served in a variety of positions, including as the Executive Officer for an Appellate Defense Unit where he argued cases before the Navy Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals. His last assignment before retiring was as a Commissioner before the Navy Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals. He understands the challenges facing soldiers in the field, as well as questions of evidence and procedure in military criminal prosecutions.
